Class Activities

Week 1: Shot Type & Editing
This is a filming and editing exercise. The video follows a protagonist who, while hurrying home from campus, suddenly realises her key is missing. She dashes back to the classroom to retrieve it and then continues on her way home.

Week 2: Moving Still
This video aims to create a contrast between still images and video through a story. The story conveys a sense of surveillance, depicting the protagonist first unaware, then becoming aware, and ultimately revealing the presence of the camera.

Week 3: Stalking Scene
This week focuses on creating a horror-film atmosphere through a series of stalking scenes. Our group planned a story about a character walking down the stairs, unaware she is being followed. The high contrast, greenish tone, and background music enhance the unsettling, eerie mood.

Week 4: Sound Recording
In class, we recorded sounds using a Zoom H4 recorder while simultaneously filming a conversation between two people. After class, I aligned the video and audio from both perspectives and edited them so that the entire dialogue would flow smoothly both visually and aurally.
Assessments
Assessment 1: Photo-Essay
"Echoes" is a self-reflective photo-essay that introduces who I am through my lifelong passion for singing. Blending visual storytelling and sound, the work explores why I love singing, my diverse musical tastes, and how music shapes my emotions and identity. Using photos of myself—both past and newly taken—I recreated them as black-and-white digital drawings to create a cohesive and minimalist aesthetic. Accompanied by my own recorded narration and layered with copyright-free background tracks suppporting the storytelling, the piece invites viewers to experience the emotional resonance of my voice and story. "Echoes" aims to be visually soothing, emotionally expressive, and artistically unified—an intimate reflection of self through sound and image.
